God’s Character

Sometimes it may be difficult to walk out what God has for us when we don’t understand the character of God. Regardless on how crazy life may be we trust in His word because they are promises for us and He is a good and faithful father.  There are going to be moments in our lives when we are forced to fight and wrestle with God just like Jacob. Jacob didn’t stop fighting for the blessing until God blessed him. Sometimes we don’t fight long enough to see the blessings come alive in our lives.

Jabez, meaning pain, gives us another example of fighting for the blessing. Jabez didn’t allow his name to depict his future. In 1 Chronicles 4:10, “Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, ‘Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.’ And God granted his request.”

Hebrews 13:5: “Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, ‘Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you’.”

Don’t be consumed with money or this world, there’s so much more God has for you. Be content with all that you have because God is a good father. Sometimes there are things God wants us to stop loving, things that consume us like relationships, job position, secret sins, etc. God may be calling you to let things go, so that nothing else can consume you but Him. He wants all of you not sure a part of you.

Psalm 16:6 encourages us that surely we have a “delightful inheritance.”

Be content with what the Lord have given you. Love the family God has given you, work the job He has given you, live the life He has given you. God will begin to enlarge you and enlarge your territory. You can do these things because He will never desert you, leave you helpless, or forsake you.

Invite God into your weaknesses, the places you may struggle, and ask Him to teach you.  Be persistent and pray, “God I won’t let go until you change me! Bless me!”

Sometimes we panic because we don’t believe that God is there, but the word remind us that He is there, that he is for us!

“God, remind me of who You are.  Don’t let me forget.”
