Persistence for the Blessing

We live in a microwave generation where we want everything right away, however things don’t happen according to our plans and our timing, but in God’s plans and in His timing. We need to be persistent and determined to work for what we believe God has for our life. Just like Jacob, we need to desire the blessings of God over our lives so that we are determined to “wrestle” with him until He blesses us.

In Genesis 32: 22-30 shows how Jacob wrestles with God and tells God “26…I will not let you go unless you bless me.”

Another example is found in 1 Chronicles 4:10 where Jabez cries out to God to bless him and enlarge his territory. “Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, ‘Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.’ And God granted his request.”

We need to grab on to God and pursue Him until we see the blessing, until God grants our requests, and until God answers our prayers. God is always there with us. He hears every prayer and every cry. God wants to bring peace to us right now. God is with us to see us through every season. Be patient and consider the promises that God has for you. Be patient and persistent, some things take time, but don’t loose heart because God is present.

God is God of our future. He is the leader and the director of our steps. He goes before us to lead us. He checks everything before we get there.  God is not discouraged by what we might do. He already knows each mistake, he already knows each failure but He is faithful and continues to love us and guide us towards His promises and goodness.

The God of Israel is our rearguard – He has got our back. He is the God over my backside, my past. God protects us from our past faults, and failures, and weaknesses. He is aware of every flaw and tendency and they do not discourage Him. Do not be afraid of failing God.

Pursue God whole-heartedly and don’t stop until you see the blessing.

Prayer: Father God, I pray over the person that is reading this right now. I pray against doubt, I pray against shame, I pray against every lie the devil whispers into their ears. Jesus, I thank you that we are forgiven of our past and we thank you that we are forgiven of our shame, and that we can move forward and believe in our future, the future and life you have set aside for us. God you cover our past, you are my future, and you’ve got our backs. You are for me. Let us be persistent in seeking you and persistent in seeing our breakthrough. Just like in Genesis 32: 26 as Jacob wrestles with God, let us continue to press into God until we see the blessing. In Jesus name, Amen.
